Why is the follow-up I have added with a call not visible?

I have tried a couple of times to add a call along with a follow-up. The follow-up is not showing up. What should I do?
In order to resolve this issue the default reminder period must be turned off. You can do this by following the steps below.
- Go to Tools | Options -> Reminder.
- Check box to turn on "Use default reminder for Calls and Action Items"
- Set a default time for reminder.
